It's All About the Journey

Today is your future. Live in the moment!

Obama and Healthcare 2014

Why should I pay out money for a health care system that doesn’t work in the first place?  A system whereby I pay out my hard earned dollars to a large agency that sits there and looks through a “guide book” to tell me whether or not they will pay for an office visit or procedure that the doctor has deemed necessary for either my survival, or my comfort during my stay here on earth?

I am perfectly happy paying out a little bit more to the dedicated doctors (who have opted to work with me on a payment plan based on my income) and hospitals.  They (the government and other “knowledgeable ones”) keep telling me “it’s important because if you ever get sick, you will need to be covered.”  I got sick.  I was not covered.  I worked with the hospitals and doctors.  There are medical professionals out there that still believe in the Hippocratic Oath, that are in it to take care of sick people.  I would have been in very rough shape, if I’d had to wait on a girl behind a telephone with a volume of health care codes, to tell the doctor (or me) that I could or could not get a procedure, or that “oh, I’m sorry, you cannot go to that facility,” especially when time is of essence.

I read on Facebook about a woman who spent hours on the phone on Christmas Eve trying to work things out with current insurance, but with Obama’s health care plan now in place, was told her children were not citizens.

It is time for protesting.  What are we doing?  STOP!  RIGHT NOW!  Stand up, fellow Americans!  Take our money back!

Stop it, Obama!  This is not in our best interest!  How has YOUR health care changed, Obama?  I want to know.  I want audience!  Your government created this system for me, the person with no insurance, and I have chosen to not accept it because it’s BROKEN.  Why would I buy something that doesn’t even WORK?  When we buy something that doesn’t work, the company gives us our money back.  Well?

My brain is exploding with anger over this.  Anger can get results because anger creates action.

Get ANGRY, Americans!

Poor Puppy!

He didn’t crawl onto my bed last night, so I figured he’d found a better spot.  All night.  Until around 3 when I couldn’t sleep any longer and went to seek him out.  Surely, he must have to go to the bathroom by now!  Poor pup-pup!  He’d accidentally been shut in the computer room.  A nicely carpeted room, I know he was fine, but you never saw a more joyful, happy puppy that he!  I wonder what he thought, was he abandoned, punished for something wrong?  No, no, just a grandmother that forgot where she’d left him…Image

Old is New!

I’m still cleaning out, sorting, trying to make my move upstairs. I cannot do too much without appliances and cupboards moved, but I’m trying to motivate to do what I can.

Part of this move is sorting through my grandchildren’s toys, crayons, colored pencils, chalk, etc. Dull Crayola pencils caused me to think, “Where is there a pencil sharpener, my makeup bag?” and then I remembered old Mrs. Stork’s pencil sharpener down in the cellar. Decrepit thing that it is, I have passed it numerous times the last 9 years and the thought would glance through my head of “Does it still work?” passing through, remembering no more once I entered the real world of daylight at the top of the staircase.

I guess I know the answer now. The thing that surprised me the most was that it didn’t even need WD-40, and it sharpened just as easily as if it were brand new. Some things don’t change, they are as reliable as ever.

I wonder how the can opener works? Hm…

Mind Sweep!

Sweep out the corners of your mind. Sweep out the past, recollections that may hurt you, helped you to nurse depressed thoughts, encouraged feeling sorry for yourself.

That is certainly the challenge for today, sweeping out the ghosts of Christmas’ past, the behaviors of this past year (as well as throughout our lifetime) from those whom we feel have “done us wrong.”

Everything has been written down according to a point of view. Even if that point of view is the most unbiased viewpoint that there is, it is STILL a viewpoint, a photograph taken down and recorded from a standpoint that is unique, no two people can stand in the same spot and see the same thing at the same time, it simply cannot be done).

We constantly re-write history so it can be “better explained,” more “politically correct.” Oh come on! Really? I see things from my point of view, and to be quite honest, I am totally in the right. Right? (raise your eyebrow and cock your head to one side, turn slightly and roll your eyes at this person who is so sure she knows everything!) This is why we need to realize that we need to stop taking ourselves so seriously. We’re not getting out of it alive anyway, and once we are gone, it’s nothing but a recording to play and then we move on.

Look up, forgive yourself and the other one, and keep walking. Move onto the next adventure!

A Day With Carpenters

Great thoughts, worth reblogging for my guests to read and enjoy!

th8K3XFCDBDaily Prompt: The Best Day Ever

You get to enjoy the best day ever — describe in detail what that means to you. Where are you? What will you do? What’s the weather like? What will you eat? Who will you see?

Today is a pretty good day.

I was out of bed at 5:10 AM. I had a toasted raisin bagel with cream cheese and coffee black.

I don’t observe Christmas, but nonetheless it is a reflective day. The rhythm of life seems to slow just enough to pause and take a breath.

I started writing a re-cap of the Boise State/Oregon game and quickly checked my email for the Daily Prompt.

As I’m writing this I’m thinking about a letter a friend sent to me a couple of days ago. He describes loneliness in nearly poetic terms. He is a good writer.

We spent many hours together in the…
